Comparing the Christian Right to Islamic Radicals

Islamic Radicals

A scholar and talk show host has mastered the art of the sound bite in stating his position that the American left is more concerned with fundamentalist Christians in America than fundamentalist Islamists who want to kill Jews.

Because they are limited in how much time or space they have for their stories, reporters listen for nice succinct statements that clearly state your opinion, thought or a fact. Television of course calls these sound bites, for print they are quotes, and on radio they’re referred to as cuts or actualities.

Syndicated radio talk show host and author Dennis Prager understands the need for, and nature of, sound bites. In addition to being Jewish and conservative, Prager is recognized for his writing which is considered well-researched and scholarly.

Recently, Prager has criticized the American left wing for what he considers faulty and misguided thinking. Liberals, he suggests, see more potential danger in right wing Christians than they do Islamic fascists. For instance, he says, the virulent anti-Semitic comments spewed by Mel Gibson received more attention and condemnation than the Islamic gunman who went on a rampage at the Seattle Jewish Federations offices, killing one woman and wounding several others. Both events occurred at the same time. Click the Icon to play the video
